I’ve had a couple of people ask me recently, “What is the best way to hang a wreath on a door without making a hole?” I thought there might be more of you wondering this as well, so here you go!
Five Minute Friday} A Pretty & Easy Way To Hang Wreaths On Front Doors
I really need a new front door, but as far as I know, doors cost money! 😉 My door is pretty drafty. In fact, I can see the sunlight in some areas! Yikes! There’s one of those little mail slots at the bottom of the door, and that is where the biggest gap is. The flap just doesn’t fit tightly. We stuff a towel in there to try to save some money, but it usually just ends up on the floor because my daughter continues to pull it out of the slot. Energy efficiency people would have a field day in our old home!
One day I’ll have a beautiful front door. I don’t know if it will be glass, metal, or wood, but either way, I’ll be prepared to hang my wreaths without putting a hole in it!
Right now I just have a hook that I’ve screwed into the wooden door. Don’t cringe people. My door has seen better days, and I usually have a wreath on my door, so it’s not like you can see the hook. Even though I have that hook on my front door, I’ve hung my fair share of wreaths inside my home or on other doors of my house that do not have a hook or nail in them. How To Hang A Wreath On A Glass Door Without A Nail
A wreath hanger is essentially a large flat hook that fits over your door. They come in different lengths, colors, and materials. Just to be on the safe side, you will need to check the thickness of your door to make sure that the wreath hanger will fit!
It is super EASY to hang a wreath! All you have to do is place your wreath hanger over your door and then put your wreath on the hanger! They also have quite a variety of styles and budgets. Some are even adjustable.
The hanger is metal, so you could see some marks if the hanger was moved around a lot. Also, the color of the hanger might stand out against your door. That might bother your or it might not! If your door is painted, and it bother’s you that you can see the hanger, you can always spray paint it to match your door!
How To Hang A Wreath On A Door Without A Nail?
When using a ribbon, you will loop it through the top of your wreath and then attach it to the top of your door using flat thumbtacks. You can either allow the ribbon to show through the front of the wreath or have it only visible behind the wreath. I would recommend using as many thumbtacks as you can fit. (Most likely around three or four.)
It’s like giving your wreath another accessory! You get to choose an adorable ribbon to display your wreath. Obviously there are so many choices for ribbon and a lot of variation in pricing.
It’s a little more time consuming since you will need to grab thumbtacks, a hammer, and a ladder. You also have to be precise, because you are basically nailing it into place. The thumbtacks are much easier to remove than nails, but you would still need some elbow grease to get them out.
Pretty Dubs: How To Hang A Door Wreath {without Nails}
I have used MANY command hooks in my day for several different projects, and I have always been very pleased with their hold up! Depending on the size of your wreath, there are several different options. The ones listed below hold five to seven and half pounds.
These hooks are easily removable and don’t leave any marks when you remove them. They are very cost effective, since they last forever!
They are not very attractive, so I suggest either painting them to match your door or trying to fully cover them with your wreath.
How To Hang A Christmas Wreath On Front Door
Fishing line can be ideal to hang a wreath since it is made to be invisible to fish! It will be attached the same way as the ribbon, by nailing flat thumbtacks to the top of your door. Make sure you get a line that is heavy enough. A 20 pound line should be heavy enough.
You need to attach it to the top of your door, so it is a little more work. You also need to make sure that you can tie a knot in the line. It can be a little tricky to tie a knot in fishing line.
This is comes with a magnet that goes on the inside of your glass door and another magnet that goes on the outside of the glass door. The magnet on the outside has a hook for the wreath to hang. Nowadays, the magnetic wreath hangers usually come in sets of two that each have a hook. You can hang something on the inside and outside!
Easy Ways To Hang A Wreath On Door
This is what I used for my wreath on my side porch door. It works great and you can’t see the magnet!
Not very attractive, so you will need something to cover it up if you don’t like the way it looks on the inside of your home.
This is your standard rubber suction cup with a metal hook to hang your wreath. Simple and straight to the point. No bells and whistles needed with this item.
